Jean Aitcheson, recipient of the RI Service Above Self award, told us about the Stratford medical depot and some of the medical missions she participated in.
The Stratford Medical Depot collects and distributes medical equipment, assistive devices and pharmaceuticals no longer needed in Canada and distributes them to locations in Africa, Latin America and Asia.  Jean described medical missions she and other Rotarians participated in where they provided basic medical aid and training to local people.  Examples of the kind of medical procedures include lancing abscesses, stitching wounds, treating diabetes, and new born care.  Jean is an inspiration to all and personifies the Rotary motto Service Above Self.
