Patti Lake brought us up to date with the community fridge project.
A location for the community fridge has been obtained at St. John the Divine at 390 Baseline West.
The community fridge will be the first in London although many other communities in Ontario and Canada have these projects.

A community fridge is a volunteer driven initiative providing fresh food and staples for free to combat food insecurity.  They operate on a “take what you need and leave what you can” philosophy.
The fridge is depleted, replenished, cleaned, and sanitized daily by volunteers.
Support to establish the fridge was generously donated by McKenzie Lake Lawyers, Libro, and the Rotary Club of London South.
Community members can donate items to the fridge directly, volunteer, or provide a monetary donation (and get a tax receipt) through Canada Helps.

The next steps in the project are:
  • Get MLHU approval
  • Retrofit the big blue box
  • Recruit volunteer to check on the fridge
  • Clean, Stock the fridge
