Pat Cavan from the Rotary Club of Wiarton described the work the Hand Up organization is doing in Guatemala.
They have completed a project in Todos Santos which provided two cisterns and new latrines at a school.
They have an approved project in Tuilan to provide water to the village using rain water collection systems instead of children and women trudging up hill 1 Km to get water.
They are also working with Amigo de Santa Cruz and the Rotary e club of Lake Atalan Parajachel to train 50 women to start their own business.When the 2023 trip is over they will determine what the next project will be. In all these projects the local people provide the labour and help in the planning so they own the projects and help in sustainability.
